Antinous for Everybody

To Panprosdexia on the sixth of the month

Your nature is hard to grasp, Panprosdexia:
Like water in a cupped hand, like sand sifting
through fingers, like quicksilver, you will not
be held. Neither male nor female nor neither
nor yet both, loving but not mating, with raven
wings and silent feet you enter into dark spaces
to offer a way out. You make offerings as well
as accept them, pouring honey into darkness.
You accept all and turn none away. It is hard
to speak of you, Panprosdexia, and hard
to praise you, but may these words suffice,
and may your hand take mine when I reach out
in darkness.
